Although lockdown has been eased in different parts of the world, there are some restrictions that are still in place. Also, as COVID-19 cases continue to rise and fall across the globe, different countries have started opening their borders for tourists again.
Months of isolation, working from home and social distancing due to COVID-19 pandemic have people seeking ways to keep their sanity intact, and take the right precautionary measures to avoid contracting the virus.
You may have been stuck indoors for a long time and staying connected with your loved one(s) via Hughesnet phone and now you just want to stretch your legs, get your eyes off screen, and see the world. If you have been meaning to travel during COVID-19 pandemic, you must ensure that you take precautionary measures. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to travel safely during these uncertain times- here are a few effective ways that will make your traveling experience safer than ever. So, let’s take a look!
Try to Keep It Simple
Chances are, you are tired of staying in for a long time and you need to get out of the house to relax and unwind. If this is the case, you can consider traveling. Make sure that you take a trip that is direct and door-to-door.
In these unprecedented and unusual times, it is better to avoid different means of transportation. The safest option to travel during COVID-19 is car. Try looking for nearby destinations where you can drive by car.
In case there is an emergency and you have to visit your family at any cost, only then should you consider getting on a plane. If you have no choice other than flying, remember that a nonstop flight is much safer than the one with layovers. Why? Because when you are on a nonstop flight, there are fewer chances of being exposed to the virus.
If your family is 1-2 hours away from you, then taking a car seems like a good idea. This way, you will be able to use the car on local outings after reaching your destination. When you go on excursions, make sure that you opt for local activities that do not require public transportation. You can either take a stroll in a not-so-crowded park or plan a barbecue on your rooftop.
Take Aplenty Masks
Before you pack your bag for a long trip with a bunch of friends, make sure that you have everything you need to keep yourself protected during the travel. As wearing a mask while traveling is highly encouraged, having aplenty of masks on hand is also mandatory.
Let’s face it- while traveling, the mask you are wearing can get contaminated and it can turn out to be infectious. So it’s not a good idea to reuse the same mask again and again.
Try to purchase a large quantity of disposable masks for yourself and your friends. You need to be careful that you throw them away after a specific period of time.
You can also go for the washable masks; they give you the same comfort and protection that you get from other masks.
Wear the Glove-Just Once
If you choose to wear gloves when you are on the go, make sure that you prefer using disposable gloves. You would find yourself touching a variety of things with gloves on, hence, it is crucial to go for one-time-use.
If you are wondering when to wear gloves, you should know that it is essential to wear them when you are fueling up at the gas station or have the need to go to a public restroom. Once you get done with the business, make sure that you discard your gloves in the nearest garbage can.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you discard them properly. Keep in mind that throwing gloves on the ground is not a good idea.
Littering is bad for environment and others will have to pick them up later. Using gloves the right way should be the norm even if the long-awaited vaccine for COVID-19 prevention is found.
Seek Safe Accommodation
When you choose a hotel to stay at, try to opt for a place where air can easily circulate through open windows. If you are unable to find such lodging, then prefer to stay outdoors.
When it comes to outdoors, camping is a good idea. Also, you can book a room with a terrace or balcony. Make sure that you look for accommodations that allow you to open the windows wide whenever you want.
Booking a hotel room with good quality air conditioning and innovative filtration systems is also great. Make sure that the hotel management gets your room cleaned twice a day.
Even if you get a clean room, you have to wash your hands every once in a while and avoid touching your face otherwise your health will be at great risk.
Try to Stay Home When You’re Sick
If you feel a bit unwell or have flu-like symptoms, make sure that you stay home. Traveling when you are sick is not a good idea as others will be at a risk of falling ill. Hence, it is better to stay home and take rest.
