Media Bill Signed Into Law

--I don't imagine this will affect someone like me, but Kenyan President Kibaki signed the media bill into law. Journalists in Kenya have been up in arms the past few weeks since the bill was passed in parliament. They believe that it gives the government greater control over the media and the ability to directly influence independent outlets. The Daily Nation has written about it for the past few weeks, but even the BBC felt that it was worth noting the signing of the bill by the president.
--Kenyan runners kicked butt around the world on New Years Day.
--The Vatican has officially decided to become completely sovereign by moving to seperate itself from Italian law.
--The Kenyan shilling fell against the US dollar.
